You Can Enjoy Life! -- Treatment for Depression/Anxiety

Depression and anxiety are increasing endemically in our modern world. These conditions severely reduce quality of life, damage relationships, and limit our potential to achieve contentment and happiness. I offer a holistic approach to treating these conditions, which focuses on improving health and maximizing quality of life. Through acupuncture, massage, herbs, meditation, and nutrition we can rebuild the foundation of healthy mind/body; eroding the patterns of trauma and chronic stress, and improve the ability to negotiate challenges and truly enjoy life.
A recent study from the University of York in the UK found that acupuncture was just as effective as counseling in the treatment of depression. Additionally, a review of clinical research literature published by the National Institutes of Health noted "positive findings" for the acupuncture treatment of generalized anxiety disorder and anxiety neurosis. Acupuncture is used broadly as a treatment for PTSD, exemplified by the growing presence of Acupuncturists Without Borders (with whom I have trained) in areas of disaster and trauma.
Treatment focuses on overall balance and everything that goes into it. Anxiety and depression often arise from the stifling effects of accumulated tensions, narrowing focus, and the growing inability to see around pressing stressors. Freeing up myofascial restrictions, releasing accumulated tensions, restoring breath and flexibility, and ensuring the smooth flow of blood and energy, help to open and broaden the mind and gain useful perspective on life.
