Shiatsu
Shi - means finger, atsu - means pressure. Shiatsu is the Japanese art of influencing the balance of the body's vital energy. Palpitory diagnosis of the pulse, abdomen and points along the meridians (energy channels that flow through the body) pinpoints imbalances of excess or deficient energy. Using graceful stretches to open meridian pathways, the practitioner then utilizes the pressure of thumbs, hands, elbows, knees and feet to restore balance, promote flexibility and encourage deep relaxation. Shiatsu is traditionally performed on a mat with the patient comfortably clothed.
Thai Massage
Traditionally performed as a meditative temple practice for both practitioner and patient, Thai massage utilizes many of the same techniques as Shiatsu, with a particular emphasis on stretching, to stimulate balance, achieve heightened awareness, and promote deep relaxation.
Chi Nei Tsang, Ampuku, & Sakai Hon Li
These three techniques are all forms of asian abdominal massage therapy. The belly, which houses the vital organs, is considered the center of health in the east, and it's treatment is both crucial and transformative. A variety of techniques are used to assess the belly and then to dissolve physical restrictions, eliminate emotional blocks and to restore fluidity and balance to the abdomen and thus to the whole person.
